Sponsors of an account can set the account’s password by using the Authoritative Identity Management System (AIMS) using the following steps:
- Go to https://aims.umsystem.edu and login with your own username and password
- By default you should be shown the “Self Service” page, if not click the “Self Service” text in the blue banner
- In the “Sponsored Account Management” management box click the “Manage Sponsored Accounts” button
- Find the account in the list (you can also use the search field just above the list on the right side)
- Click the “Password Reset” link to open the password reset page
- Enter the new password in the “New Password” and “Confirm New Password” fields then click submit
The password requirements are shown on the page. To facilitate password creation there are two buttons: “Generate Password” and “Generate Passphrase” that can be used to automatically generate compliant passwords.
Some accounts cannot have their password set. There are two common cases: administrative accounts and shared mailboxes. In the case of an administrative account the password should be changed online (go to https://password.mst.edu and follow the instructions). Shared mailboxes are not expected to have passwords as they are disabled. If you are receiving notification of password expiration on a shared mailbox contact IT Security for assistance.

Sponsors
An account can have up to two sponsors. A sponsor:

An account proxy can change the account’s password in the same fashion as a sponsor.

To delete a proxy find their row in the list of proxies at the bottom of the dialog and click the ‘Delete’ link.
