Exporting PPT, PDF, and Word documents to OneNote

OneNote is part of the Microsoft Office Suite. It is a very powerful tool that makes writing formulas and lecture notes easier using the Wacom monitor in the classrooms. Using OneNote with the Wacom monitor serves as a virtual whiteboard, allowing you to post your notes to Canvas after class if you choose. It is also helpful if you have distance students in your class who will not be able to read writing on the chalkboard or whiteboard in the classroom.

Saving your file to OneNote:

When saving a PowerPoint, PDF, or Word document on your computer, go to the print menu, choose Send to OneNote, then Print. You can save the Notebook, Page, or Section, depending on the option you choose in the native format.

When teaching in a classroom, you should have your lecture files ready to load on the podium computer in the classroom from a USB drive before class. You can also save the OneNote to your profile on the computer.

When the lecture is over your notes and formulas can be saved to PDF format and posted in your Canvas course for your students to access. The original notes remain in the virtual drive for you to refer to in subsequent lectures.

Remember to make a backup of your OneNote notebook to another location before leaving the classroom. This should be a location not on the podium computer.
