This document will explain how to install MATLAB R2024a or later on your campus managed macOS device.
NOTE: MATLAB is a large application and averages 20 minutes to download and install while on campus. Please allow adequate time when starting this installation.
1. Open AppsAnywhere from the icon in your dock, if the icon is missing, you can also navigate to https://appsanywhere.mst.edu in Safari.
2. Sign into the UM System MFA portal, if prompted.
3. In the Search box located in the center of the page, search “MATLAB”. Then click MATLAB to go to the application page.
4. Click Launch 2024a (ARM) or click the dropdown and Click Launch 2024a (x86), which ever version is appropriate for your macOS device.
If you are unsure of which version to use, the IT Help Desk can help you determine which version to use.
5. AppsAnywhere will now begin installing MATLAB for you. This will take approximately 20 minutes to complete – this is an estimated time that has been observed on the S&T campus network. Actual time might vary depending on network load and your internet connection, if you are off campus.
During the installation process, you will only see the below screen.
6. When installation is complete, your macOS device will be checked for a Java runtime environment. If a compatible one is not present, you will receive the below notification. Click “OK”, if prompted. Java will now be installed for you.
7. Once Java is installed, return to your AppsAnywhere tab in Safari and search for “Activate MATLAB“.
8. Click “Launch” when it loads in your search results.
7. When prompted, use your @umsystem.edu SSO, to sign in.
7. You will be redirected to the UM System MFA portal to finish signing in.
8. Once signed in, you will be asked to confirm your licensing. Click Next.
If you do not have any licensing available, please contact the IT Help Desk to have your enrollment or employment status verified.
9. Click Activate
10. Launch MATLAB to verify the installation. If prompted to sign in, sign in using your @umsystem.edu SSO.
If you receive an error stating that a Java Runtime is not present, contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.
11. MATLAB is now ready to use!
