How to Share a File or Folder in OneDrive

OneDrive is a convenient way to save files. When saved in OneDrive you can access the files anywhere that you have internet access.
These files can also be shared with others.

Microsoft has instructions on the Microsoft 365 Support website. Here is the link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/share-onedrive-files-and-folders-9fcc2f7d-de0c-4cec-93b0-a82024800c07

Please note you can share by clicking the “Copy Link”: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/share-onedrive-files-and-folders-9fcc2f7d-de0c-4cec-93b0-a82024800c07#ID0EDBJ=Share_with_%22Copy_link%22

You can also share with specific people: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/share-onedrive-files-and-folders-9fcc2f7d-de0c-4cec-93b0-a82024800c07#ID0EDBJ=Share_with_specific_people

Depending on what you choose in the above links, you can share with anyone on the S&T campus (for sharing on S&T, be sure to use the umsystem.edu email address) or anyone you choose. These sharing permissions also have options. You can allow the persons you give access to edit, view, view only (can’t download), and review.

Keep in mind that files shared from your S&T account will not be available to the persons shared if you leave the University. A better place to save and share files and folders is in a Team Drive. Items saved and shared in Teams will stay with the team.
