Why Is IT No Longer Subsidizing Abaqus Research?

In previous years, the IT Department had paid for a general pool of Abaqus Academic Research licenses for all to use at Missouri S&T. In addition to this, individual departments and researchers were able to purchase dedicated CAE tokens (interactive seats) and session tokens at a subsidized rate.

In 2022, the IT Department covered just over 80% of the total cost. Due to the monumentally increasing costs of software licensing in the entire portfolio of campus used software and a decrease utilization of Abaqus, S&T IT has made the difficult decision to no longer subsidize the cost of the Abaqus Academic Research license.

This does not mean that Abaqus Academic Research will be disappearing. We have been working to compile data and will reach out to anyone who has used Abaqus Academic Research in the last 12 months to ask for their opinion on how this license should be handled going forward.
